A typical PMA Fitness Kickboxing class begins with a 5-10 minute warm up employing large muscle movements to increase blood flow, activate the heart and heat up your muscles. The core of the class involves the application of a varied series of punching and kicking combinations directed at standing targets. The use of targets provides an important benefit and a key difference between PMA Fitness Kickboxing and many other cardio boxing programs: constant resistance. Punches and kicks directed at an actual target result in resistance similar to what you might get from doing pushups or squats (without having to do pushups or squats!). This is key to building lean muscle mass WHILE building cardiovascular endurance. Class concludes with a 3-5 minute cool-down involving a variety of stretches for the legs, hips, chest, shoulders and core, leaving members energized, refreshed and spent all at the same time.
