PMA Adult Programs

At Pro Martial Arts, our goal is to help every one of our students achieve their goals.  And since adults have very different goals for themselves than they do for their children, we have worked hard to tailor an Adult Program that is consistent with the values and techniques taught to younger students while remaining effective in addressing the needs of our adult clients.  Our Adult Program has five primary areas of focus.

 

Convenience

Time.  It is both our greatest asset and scarcest resource.  Where do you find the time to manage your work, family and social lives while still taking care of yourself?  It’s hard enough to find the time needed to eat right, let alone commit to a fitness regimen that is both efficient and effective.  At Pro Martial Arts, we are committed to helping you solve this problem.  Our curriculum provides for an unlimited array of fun, effective and energizing total body fitness workouts with a variety of class times to suit your needs and fit into your busy schedule.  And unlike a gym membership, which requires significant self-motivation and planning to be effective, your PMA workouts are planned for you by certified martial arts instructors who will keep you motivated as you pursue your goals.

In addition to planning and teaching fun and energizing classes, your PMA instructors will make sure you don’t “fall out of the habit,” as so many people do when it comes to fitness.  If you miss classes, you should expect a friendly call from your instructor letting you know you were missed and reminding you to stay on track in pursuit of your goals.  When you choose to train at Pro Martial Arts, you choose to enlist the services of an experienced and committed team with one mission: to help you succeed!

 

Fitness

At PMA, our skills-based training programs are designed to provide adults with a comprehensive fitness solution.  Unlike most gym workouts, which focus on either cardiovascular OR strength training, the martial arts workouts PMA students experience are designed to condition your whole body, and they do it in the same amount of time most people commit to working on just one of these areas at the gym.  And along with improved cardiovascular and muscular fitness, PMA students reap another crucial benefit:  advanced flexibility training.  Stretching and flexibility, a frequently overlooked component of fitness, are not only critical to overall fitness, but are also a key to avoiding injury.

Another important benefit of training at PMA is variety.  With a curriculum that encompasses blocking, kicking, striking, deep stances and explosive movement, students find themselves challenged in new and different ways every time they come to class.  This variety challenges the body while simultaneously keeping the mind engaged and focused.  With such wonderful diversity, students tell us that, unlike struggling to motivate themselves to go to the gym, they can hardly wait for their next martial arts class!

 

Weight Control

Another popular benefit of PMA’s fun, challenging and energizing workouts is their effectiveness in helping students maintain a healthy weight.  Students at Pro Martial Arts experience positive changes in their body from the very start of their training.  The pace of classes helps elevate the heart rate, allowing students to increase cardiovascular health while burning calories at a rapid rate.  In addition, the increase in lean muscle mass that results from the total body nature of PMA workouts means students experience an increase in their metabolic rate, which is a fancy way of saying their bodies burn more calories 24 hours a day 7 days per week!

 

Confidence and Well-Being

You see, the PMA curriculum provides all students, regardless of age, with a series of steps that must be followed in order to advance in rank.  While the progression is a natural one, all students will, at times, find their next step challenging or even daunting.  And while students must eventually find their own way forward, they are never alone, because PMA’s staff and instructors are always there to provide direction, encouragement, guidance, and support.  The confidence and self-esteem that results from successfully overcoming these challenges benefits all students, regardless of age.

 

Self-Defense

One of the most obvious benefits of martial arts training at PMA is the development of self-defense skills, and the piece of mind that goes along with those skills.  The PMA curriculum is comprised of time tested and proven techniques that were developed in the real world.  They are powerful, direct and effective.  The most effective self-defense techniques taught at PMA, though, are awareness and good judgment.  PMA students, while capable of dealing with an assault, are less likely to NEED to deal with one because of their training.
